Wilfred L. Collins, 86, entered into rest on Sunday, March 16, 2014.
Wilfred was born on August 6, 1927 in Macon, Georgia and was of the Methodist faith. With pride and honor, he served our country in the United States Army. During his military career, he served during World War II (where he was a member of the Constabulary of the United States), the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. Wilfred retired with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2. He also went on to retire from Packing and Receiving Logistics at Robins Air Force Base.
Mr. Collins loved music and was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and camping. He was also a Mason.
His daughter, Patricia Ann Collins, and parents, George Willie Collins and Daisy Scott Collins Floyd, preceded him in death.
Wilfred's memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife of sixty-two years, Mary Jo Collins of Warner Robins; children, Laura Sue McComas of Warner Robins and Philipp Kopel of Bremen, Germany; grandchildren, Patricia Lynn Minter and Angela Leigh Babb; great-grandchildren, Amelia Nicole Babb and Danielle Leigh Pace; sister, Sharon Salter of Centerville; and several very special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with entombment following in Magnolia Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Reverend Ed Hatmaker officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
