With unimaginable sadness and disbelief, we announce the unexpected and far too early passing of Dana Swing, 38, wife of Donnie Swing and mother of Beckett and Piper. She fought hard in her short battle, but complications from surgery proved insurmountable. A service of remembrance will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday September 19, 2026 at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Warner Robins, Georgia.

Dana Elise Sutton was born March 26, 1988, in Macon, Georgia to Keith and Sherrie (née Jones) Sutton. While she spent her early years near her extended family in Warner Robins, the Suttons eventually moved to Columbus, Georgia where Dana would flourish as a child, teenager, and ultimately a beautiful young woman ready to take on the world.

After graduating from Northside High School in 2006, Dana pursued her passion for art at Columbus State University. Her love of art would last her entire life in the forms of decorating, drawing, painting, sewing, and more. Her daughter, Piper, shares her artistic soul and will carry her spirit.

Through mutual friends, Dana met Donnie Swing in the spring of 2008. They immediately knew that destiny had put them in each other’s path and were married on November 20, 2010. Their life journey took them many places over the past 18 years, but a chance job opportunity whisked them to Houston, Texas in 2013. While they were excited about the prospect of moving west, they had no idea how special it would become to them. Ten years of their life together were spent in Texas, three in Friendswood and seven in El Lago. Dana made lifelong friends there that she dearly missed after moving back to her hometown last year to be closer to family.

In August of 2016, Dana gave birth to Beckett, and a short 13 months later brought the birth of Piper in September 2017. With their family of four intact, Dana embraced motherhood with all her heart. She did everything in her power to ensure that Beck and Pip had what they needed and more. In her last year of life, Dana was not only mother to them, but she was also their part-time teacher as they were enrolled in a homeschool co-op.

Among her countless talents, Dana was an amazing cook. Her ability to make a gourmet meal from scratch kept her family happy and healthy throughout her life. She strived to use the freshest ingredients possible and even had a knack for making homemade equivalents to popular snacks from the store. Donnie took pride in being her sous chef, helping prep and doing the dishes so that Dana could focus on her magic in cooking. Over the past year, Beckett had taken a special interest in grilling for Dana while she cooked the rest of the meal.

Although not a part of her life since her teenage years, it must be noted that Dana was an outstanding softball pitcher, and many lasting bonds were created through her formative years playing on travel teams.

Dana had an enormous, close-knit family which she cherished deeply. She is survived by loving family members: husband, Donnie Swing; son, Beckett Swing; daughter, Piper Swing; sister, Leslie Harbin (Hampton); mother, Sherrie Dunn (David); father, Keith Sutton (Barbra); aunt, Terrie Hastings (Scott); aunt, Joy Card (Michael); uncle, Randy Jones; cousins, Rachael Costa (Diogo), Matthew Hastings (Renee), Zac Card (Katherine), Joshua Card, Morgan Card, William Jones, Layson Jones, Kolby Jones, Amryn Jones, Drew Sutton (Kelly), and Britt Sutton (Jessica); nephew, Riley Harbin; grandparents, William R. Jones, Bill & Fay Sutton; mother-in-law, Pam Tinkler (Jack); father-in-law, Don Swing; nieces, Allie and Emma Tinkler, and countless other extended family members. She was predeceased by a special soul, her grandmother, Judy Jones, and an uncle, Daniel Sutton.

Dana’s departure from this earthly realm leaves a void in so many lives that can never be filled. Her spirit lives on through Donnie, Beckett, Piper, and the rest of her family who reflect fondly upon the short time they were blessed with her presence.
