Perry

Daniel “Danny” Henry Keenan, 77, of Perry, GA passed away May 16, 2024, surrounded by his wife and family at the Piedmont Macon Medical Center, Macon GA. Danny was born June 14, 1946, to Clara (White) Keenan and Ralph Henry Keenan in Brunswick, ME.  He was one of seven siblings.  Danny attended schools in Brunswick and at the age of 17 joined the army.  He was stationed in Germany and Vietnam.  Danny was predeceased by his parents, his brother Charles Keenan of ME and sister Dorothy Hydros of CA.

Danny married Jewel Louanna Hobbs of Monroe, ME. on September 12, 1970. They began their life together in Bangor, ME and soon moved to Monroe, to own and run the family dairy farm.   In 1981, they moved to FL where Danny owned and operated Keenan Logging and later, Keenan Tree Service.  During this time, they raised their three children and moved to Keystone Heights, FL, where they lived for 30 years.  Danny retired in 2021.  In 2022, they moved to Perry, GA.

Danny was an outdoors man his whole life.  His favorite sports were fishing and hunting.  It was often joked that Danny would stop to fish in every pond no matter the size, be it 2 feet wide or two miles.  Above all else, he loved his grandchildren. He loved teaching them new things and taking them for rides on the lawn tractor. He was patient and kind and was greatly loved in return.

Danny is survived by his loving wife, Jewel, whom he had been married to for 53 years.  He is survived by his son Garrett Marc Keenan of Palm Coast, FL; Tara Leigh Keenan also of Palm Coast; and Victoria Lynn (Keenan) Quattlebaum and her husband Jeffrey Quattlebaum of Bonaire, GA; sisters, Cathy Douglas of Pensacola, FL; Linda Johnson of Brunswick, ME; Luanne Cloutier of Bowdoinham, ME; and Sandra Keenan of Missoula, MT. He is survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on May 25 at 11:00 at the Trinity Baptist Church, 3716 SE State Road 21, Keystone Heights, FL.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, https://www.parkinson.org. The family thanks the Houston Healthcare Emergency staff of Perry, GA; Houston Healthcare staff of Warner Robins, GA; and Piedmont Macon Medical Center of Macon, GA.
