It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel “Dan” Lamar Williams, 73, who entered into rest on April 27, 2025, surrounded by his wife, Melody of forty-one years, and his children. Born in Telfair County Georgia on December 26, 1951, Dan’s father moved the family to Warner Robins in 1954 where Dan remained until his passing.

Not long after graduating from Warner Robins High School, Dan joined the Army but was discharged shortly thereafter due to the untimely death of his mother. Once home, Dan became the caretaker for his father and two younger brothers.

Dan was a gentle soul who loved to read about history. He was also an avid watcher of old horror films, especially The Twilight Zone. Although Dan worked the majority of his life as a construction subcontractor, his passion was music. He learned and continued to play the bass guitar by ear. In fact, Dan traveled the US as a teenager playing the bass guitar in a band named, “Luke’s Cabbage Store.”

Later in life, while playing in Macon GA, he had a surprise visit onstage from James Brown who sang a few songs with the band. Dan was also the founding member of the “Sugar Creek Band” which was well-known in and around Macon GA and was a brief member of the “Silver Hammer Band” just to name a few. His musical talent was sought after by many bands throughout his life.

Dan’s spirit will be carried on by his wife, Melody; daughter Heather Madrigal and her son, Brandon and daughter Samantha; son Tad Williams (Leslie) and his son Evan and daughters Aaren and Ashlyn; Sammy Williams and his daughters Skyler, Jada, Miley, and Hailey; son Daniel Williams (Danielle) and his sons Mason, Charlie, Sawyer, Aj, and Wayden; and son Bryan “Kelly” Williams. In total, Dan had fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Dan was the first son of four children of Dan Williams and Shirley Bowen Williams. Dan was preceded in death by his brothers John “Ben” Bennett Williams and James “Jimbo” Alan Williams and is survived by his sister Donna Lynn Brown.

To honor Dan’s memory, a visitation will be held at McCullough Funeral Home on Saturday, May 03, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at 417 S Houston Lake Road, Warner Robins, GA 31088. In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations.
