David Whitehead, 56, of Warner Robins passed away December 1, 2017. He was born and raised in Marietta, GA, one of three sons to Johnson Whitehead and Frances Pettyjohn Whitehead. He was educated in the Cobb County public school system and graduated from Wheeler High School in Marietta, GA. David went on to receive a degree in announcing from the Columbia School of Broadcasting.
On August 29, 1992, he married Tammy Holcomb of Warner Robins, GA in a beautiful ceremony at the US Forest Service Park Amphitheater in Milledgeville, GA beside Lake Sinclair. The happy couple enjoyed 25 years of marriage. They have one son, Caleb Michael Whitehead, 14.
David’s love of music and sports lead him to enjoy 20 years in radio as a disc jockey and sports announcer. His soothing voice was heard in cities all over the state including: Jefferson, Dahlonega, Perry and Macon, GA. He was employed as a pest control technician in Warner Robins for the past 21 years. Deacon Whitehead was an active member of Warner Robins Church of Christ where he served as song leader and deacon over missions. David was an avid sports fan and was often found cheering on his beloved Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs. He loved music and singing and was a lifelong fan of Elvis Presley, who he could beautifully belt out the songs of.
David leaves behind his beloved wife Tammy, his son Caleb and his younger brother Jeffrey Scott Whitehead of Marietta, GA. He is also survived by his in-laws, Jim and Jacque Asbell; his brothers and sisters in-law; David and Ginger Larrabee, Randy and Lisa Holcomb, and Bobby and Taryn Werner. He also leaves several nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to him as “Uncle Dave” including; Lace Larrabee, Lauren Larrabee-Hart, Cody Trayler, Layne Asbell, Tanner Holcomb and one great niece, Ella Jacqueline Trayler, daughter of Cody. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his youngest brother Michael Wayne Whitehead.
David’s family will be receiving guests at visitation services held Friday, December 8, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home located at 417 S. Houston Lake Rd. Warner Robins, GA 31088. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 12 p.m. at Warner Robins Church of Christ located at 1947 Watson Blvd. Warner Robins, GA 31093. Along with flowers, any donations wish to be made, may be sent to Warner Robins Church of Christ.
