David Lewis Slayton, 65, of Juliette, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Pine Pointe Hospice Facility in Macon.
Born on February 28, 1960, in Franklin City, North Carolina, David was the son of the late William Avery and Agnes Lorena Lewis Slayton. He was of the Baptist faith and dedicated many years of service as a Maintenance Technician at Tattnall Square Academy before his retirement.
David lived a life centered around faith, family, and selfless service to others. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his family, especially with his beloved bride. A devoted father and proud “Papa,” David relished every moment coaching his son in baseball and his daughter in softball, as well as later cheering on his grandchildren from the stands as they continued the tradition. He was also a loyal Atlanta Braves fan and never missed a chance to root for his team.
Whether fishing in any nearby body of water, grilling out with loved ones, working on boats, or traveling to his favorite destination in the mountains of Gatlinburg, David embraced life to the fullest with his family by his side.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Slayton, aunt, Mary Alice Nations, and cousin, Vickie Morris.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 41 years, Ellen Hughes (Wall) Slayton; children Joshua Lewis Slayton (Rachel), Kristin Nicole Slayton (Jim Simmons); grandchildren, Riley and Kallie Slayton; siblings, Karen Malcott (Bill) and Dianne Henson; nephews, Chris Nations, Ashley Kennedy, Hunter Malcott; niece, Jordan (Malcott) Beck (Alan); as well as numerous loving extended family members and friends.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at The Assembly of Warner Robins with a memorial service immediately following at 3:00 p.m. Afterward, David Lewis Slayton will be laid to rest privately.
