Deborah "Deb" J. Hamlin

Deb Hamlin, 60, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019.

Deb Hamlin was born on July 29, 1958 to Daphine Lee Blankenship and the late James H. Blankenship. For 26 years, she was the information technology manager for the City of Perry and taught aerobics part-time for 12 years at the city’s recreation department. Deb also served as the executive secretary for a couple of state organizations.

Deb enjoyed watching NASCAR with her husband, Gary and faithfully cheered for Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in every race. Her dream car was a 2002 Trans-Am WS6 and she was fortunate enough to own one for the last 12 years. Deb had a sweet spot for all of her animals and loved collecting Gone With the Wind memorabilia, as well.

In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy James Johnson.

Deb’s memory will forever be treasured by her devoted husband of 32 years, Gary L. Hamlin; children, Kerri Leigh Brown and Clinton Lee Hamlin; grandchildren, Samantha Brianna Brown, T.J. Brown, Kody Tyler Brown, Hallie Rose Hamlin, Isaac Lee Hamlin, and Olin Franklin Hamlin; mother, Daphine Lee Blankenship; and sisters, Patricia Clyburn and Judy Wheel.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Cross Point Baptist Church in Perry. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the church.
