Delbert James Honea entered into eternal rest on June 18, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, strength, and devotion to family.
Born in Wasco, California, to the late Clarence and Violet Honea, Delbert was a proud American who dedicated much of his life to serving his country. Following his high school, Delbert enlisted in the United States Air Force. His distinguished military service included serving as a highly decorated Vietnam Veteran. Delbert served honorably and courageously.
After completing his military service, Delbert continued his commitment to public service through a career in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base. His strong work ethic, dedication, and sense of responsibility carried him through many successful years until his retirement.
Delbert embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. He was an avid reader who enjoyed learning and expanding his knowledge. He was a devoted fan of football, especially his beloved San Francisco 49ers, and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his team. His many hobbies reflected both his creativity and resourcefulness, as he found joy in woodworking, gardening, automotive work, and photography. He also possessed a spirit of adventure and treasured the opportunity to travel throughout the world, creating memories and experiences that he loved to share with others.
Among Delbert's favorite places were the beach and the water. Whether traveling to a distant destination or simply enjoying a peaceful day by the shore, he found comfort and happiness near the ocean. Those who knew him best will remember his strong-willed nature, his gift for conversation, and his ability to charm others with his sweet-talking personality.
Above all else, Delbert was devoted to his family. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and a helping hand to his children and grandchildren. He took great pride in their accomplishments and treasured the time he spent with them. He also deeply appreciated the love and care shown by his wife and especially enjoyed the meals she lovingly prepared throughout their years together.
Delbert will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his country, his love for his family, his adventurous spirit, and his generous heart.
In addition to his parents, Delbert was preceded in death by his sister, Cheryl Ann Bendle.
His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife of fifty years, Amorfina Honea; children, Kathryn Honea, Christina Rinaudo, Marina Van Stee, Nina Courchesne, and Raymond Honea; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.
