Denise Elaine Burns Giegerich, affectionately known as "Sissy" to her loved ones, was born June 22, 1961, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, at the age of 64. In her six decades of life, Sissy lived with a kind of presence and passion that made every room brighter and every heart warmer.

Sissy never met a stranger—she had the rare ability to strike up a meaningful conversation with anyone, and even rarer, to truly listen. Known for her boundless energy, infectious laughter, and genuine spirit, she was the kind of person who made you feel like you mattered the moment you met her. Whether you were a lifelong friend or someone she'd just met in the checkout line, Sissy had a gift for connection.

She was a giver in every sense of the word. If she had it and you needed it, it was yours—no questions asked. Her generosity extended not just to people but to every living creature. A devoted animal lover, Sissy had a soft spot for cats, dogs, and all creatures great and small.

Family and friends were the cornerstones of her life. She cherished time spent with loved ones, creating memories filled with laughter, warmth, and love. Her loyalty ran deep, and those lucky enough to be in her circle knew they had a steadfast supporter for life.

Sissy lived fully and loved fiercely. In her 64 years, she experienced the richness of life—its joys, challenges, and all the moments in between—with grace, humor, and a heart as big as the world.

She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Leonard Giegerich and father, Douglas Burns.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Christina Walker, of Macon, Georgia; two grandchildren; mother, Karin Zryd Burns; siblings, Craig Burns of Orlando, Florida and Corey Burns (Dana) of Byron, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
