DeWayne “Big Chuck” Gordon, 53, was born in Macon, on December 17, 1971. He was the beloved son of Lillie Mae Gordon and the late Johnny Frank Gordon, Sr.

DeWayne attended the Bibb County School System and graduated from Southeast High School, where he also made his mark on the football field. Beyond athletics, he possessed a deep appreciation for learning, especially as a scholar of African American history.

Throughout his life, DeWayne worked for both Rent-A-Center and Winn-Dixie. His hobbies included fishing, watching sports, and cherishing time spent with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Known for his generosity, DeWayne was a man who would give his last without hesitation. He was family-oriented and loyal to the core, making everyone around him feel valued and loved. To have DeWayne as a friend was to be graced by an angel on earth.

In addition to his parents, DeWayne was preceded in death by his daughter, Letesha Taylor, and sister, Jacqueline Gordon.

His memory will forever be treasured by his mother, Lillie Mae Gordon; sons, DeQuarius Gordon, Sr. and Jamorea Clark Gordon; a granddaughter whom he raised as his own, Madison Taylor of Warner Robins; goddaughter, Milani Boyer of Warner Robins; godmothers of Madison, Shalanda Everett and Tashiah Boyer; granddaughters, LaNiyah McKie of Augusta; grandson, DeQuarius Gordon, Jr. of Warner Robins; sister, LaTarsha Rivers (Tommy) of Winston Salem, North Carolina; Aretha Jones (Lorenzo) of Warner Robins; brother, Johnny Gordon, Jr. (Gretchen) of Macon; bonus brother, Marcus Wilson; devoted nephew, Darien Williams, Jr., and devoted niece, A’yana Williams, both of Winston Salem, North Carolina; devoted friends, Willie Jackson, and Al McKenzie; devoted cousins, Dexter Williams, Felix L. King, Jr., Patrick A. King, Douglas King Jr., and Charlie Harvey, all of Warner Robins; uncles, Felix L. King, Sr. (Jan), John Wesley Jones (Wyleen), James King, Sr. (Rochelle), Michael King (Beverly), Edmond Jones (Glenda), Willie Wells (Emma), Kenneth Wells (Sheila), M.C. Wells; devoted aunts, Jan King (Felix), Tina Marshall (Artis), Marinita King, Beatrice King, Leslie King, Annette Mace, Brenda Ragins (Roosevelt), Mary Williams (Rogers), Beverly Wells, Barbara Wells, and Enda Moore (James); devoted cousin/sister, Dione Stephens; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, DeWayne “Big Chuck” Gordon will be laid to rest in Tharpe Cemetery.
