Don Ray Cunningham, age 68, passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning of Monday, April 24, 2023.
Don was born in Miami, FL on September 19, 1954, the son of the late Raymond and Marcella Hickey Cunningham. As a teenager, he began work as a bag boy for Big Apple Supermarket and climbed up the ladder to become manager. Don then went to work at the Robins Air Force Base Commissary, which led to a 29-and-a-half-year career in Civil Service from where he retired as an engine manager. While he enjoyed working, family was at his core; they were his everything. In his free time, Don loved camping, playing softball, bowling and being outdoors. He was also an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan (GO DAWGS!) and a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, was head over the fellowship hall, and was a youth leader where he was often referred to as “Daddy Don.”
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 42 years, Kay Cunningham of Perry; his children, Emmy Roberts (Ryan) of Perry and Allen Harper (Michele) of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Colton Roberts, Zoe Roberts, Donovan Roberts and Lily Harper; and sisters, Shirley Williams of SC and Juanita Gibson (David) of Kennesaw, GA.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Southside Baptist Church with a funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Dennis Clark and Reverend Randall Nash will officiate.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Don Cunningham to For the 478 at Southside Baptist Church, 1040 S. Houston Lake Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
