Dorothy “Sheila” Woodall Horne, age 80, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 17, 2026, reuniting with her beloved husband, Larry, in eternal rest. She was born on April 13, 1946, in Milledgeville, Georgia, to the late George Furney Woodall and Doris “Dot” Woodall of Macon, Georgia.
Sheila was a proud graduate of McEvoy High School in Macon, Class of 1964. In her early adult years, she worked at Robins Air Force Base before dedicating her time to her family. While raising her children, she served as a substitute teacher in Houston County Schools, reflecting her deep love for education and children. Throughout her career, Sheila also shared her creative talents as a professional photographer with Reflections by Allen and worked in customer service, distribution, and display roles for Campbell Soup Company and Hershey Chocolate.
Sheila had a vibrant spirit and a deep passion for life. She cherished traveling with her husband, Larry, and together they explored 48 of the 50 states, creating a lifetime of memories. She found joy in spending time with family and friends, browsing thrift stores and local shops for hidden treasures, and filling her home with music—especially Elvis Presley, whose songs often accompanied her weekend routines.
A natural people-person, Sheila never met a stranger and had a remarkable ability to turn acquaintances into lifelong friends. Her infectious laughter, spontaneity, and zest for life brought joy to all who knew her. She was an active member of the Jaycettes, where she volunteered her time and formed lasting friendships. In the 1980s, she also served as a spokesperson for the Houston County Board of Education, advocating for air conditioning in schools—an effort that reflected her commitment to improving the learning environment for students.
Sheila had a keen eye for beauty and a lifelong love of photography. Whether capturing moments with family, documenting her travels, or photographing everyday joys, she preserved a rich visual legacy that will be treasured for generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Doris “Dot” and George “Furney” Woodall; her husband, Larry Horne; and her beloved pets, Baby and Rocki.
Sheila is survived by her brother, James Culver Woodall of Tifton, GA; daughters, Lisa Oneia Horne of Gray, Georgia, and Lori Leigh (Kelby) Wooley of Grovetown, Georgia; her grandchildren, Ashton Banguilan of Woodstock, Georgia, Landon Banguilan of Hephzibah, Georgia, and Alexis (Juan) Rivera Reyes of Macon, Georgia; and her best friend of 50 years, Mary (Gerry) Halasz of San Antonio, Texas.
Sheila will be remembered for her radiant smile, her joyful laughter, her loving heart, and the camera she so often carried—capturing the beauty of a life well lived.
