A dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, Dr. Robert “Bob” Edward O’Connor, Ph.D. entered into rest on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at his residence in Warner Robins, Georgia.

Dr. Bob O’Connor was born in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, to the late Ralph M. and Aliene Simbeck O’Connor. He received his undergraduate from Florence State University before earning his Doctorate in Plasma Physics from Auburn University. Dr. Bob O’Connor was employed at Sparta, where he used to mentor young scientists at his job and retired with the esteemed title of Senior Scientist. He later became a Professor of Physics at Auburn University.

Dr. Bob O’Connor's passion for Auburn Softball and Grissom Soccer was unwavering. Their accomplishments were his aspirations, and he supported their goals, hopes, and dreams, with a boundless and unshakeable love. Dr. Bob O’Connor's commitment extended to his community as well. He had a love for the local arts and sciences. His involvement with the YMCA's program The Indian Guides lead him to be voted Chief of the Nation in Huntsville, Alabama. Dr. Bob O’Connor also took solace in nature’s embrace at his lake house while feeding the birds and squirrels.

In addition to Dr. Bob O’Connor’s parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Maurice, Tim, and Jerry O’Connor; and sisters, Wanda Reeves, Wilda Dowden, Barbara Wiley, and Jean Fowler.
