June 3, 1945 — December 20, 2020

Dr. Stuart Havilah Beardsley, Lt. Col. (Ret.) USAF went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 20, 2020 after living a full 75 years on this Earth.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 3, 1945 to the late Herbert and Alice Beardsley. Stuart attended and received his doctoral degree from Emory University School of Dentistry. He was a deacon and an elder for Wellspring Church, formerly Westside Baptist Church. He taught many children to know and love Jesus Christ for 22 years through the AWANA program.

A decorated veteran, Stuart served as a dentist in the U.S. Air Force for 24 years receiving an Air Force Commendation Medal with 1 device, Meritorious Service Medal with 1 device, Air Force Overseas Long tour Ribbon with one device, National Defense Service Medal, Longevity Service Award with 6 devices, and a Humanitarian Service Medal.

After retiring from the Air Force, Stuart went on to teach others about dentistry, becoming an instructor for dental hygiene at Middle Georgia Technical College and Central Georgia Technical College. He also found time to provide dental services and minister at the Houston County Jail. Everyone appreciate his positive attitude, kind heart, ever-ready jokes, and the way he gently and quietly helped those around him.

In addition to his parents, Stuart was preceded in death by his sister, Christine Horn. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Carol D. Beardsley of Warner Robins; children, Matt Beardsley of Warner Robins and Becky Pullen (Seth) of Buffalo, New York; grandchildren, Cash and Ezra Beardsley; brothers-in-law, David Zahniser (Betsy) of Boston, Massachusetts and Roger Horn of Missouri; sister-in-law, Donna (Mark) McGowan of Townsville, Australia; half brother, Bruce Ernest of Ohio; niece, Rachael Lawson of Florida; and nephew, Todd Horn of Missouri.

A memorial service will be held at Wellspring Church on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.. Pastor Caleb Knight will officiate. At the family’s request, please wear a mask over the mouth and nose during the entire memorial service. For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.
