Eddie Lee Hicks embarked on his life’s journey on March 9, 1958, in Union Springs, Alabama to the Late Dale Hicks, Sr. and Mrs. Mozell Posey Hicks. Eddie’s early years were filled with warmth, laughter, and a benevolent spirit that would shape the person he would become.
Eddie was educated in the public school system of Bullock County. He was a member of the Hornet Football team and a proud graduate of the Bullock County High School Class of 1976.
A patriot at heart, Eddie enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country with honor and dedication from July 9, 1976 to August 18, 1986. During his military tenure Eddie received numerous awards: Air Force Longevity Service Award, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal July 9, 1976- July 8, 1979, and Overseas Award.
On December 15, 1981, Eddie met the love of his life Helen Jean Dawson. Their loving courtship led to them becoming one on June 4, 1983. They enjoyed traveling, serving the community, and loving their families. Their love and dedication to each other lasted for 44 years.
Upon Eddie’s retirement from the United States Air Force, he attended Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA earning a degree in Business. His love of business and his desire to become an entrepreneur led Eddie to become a PRIMERICA business agent ensuring that everyone he encountered was financially literate. He loved what he did and his benevolent spirit inspired him to help everyone he met to become financially literate.
In 1995, Eddie always said he became a Christian when he united with Warner Robins Church of Christ. He was a dedicated member who worked tirelessly until his health would not allow him to be fully engaged in church activities.
On Saturday, September 6, 2025, Eddie’s earthly journey came to a peaceful close at Emory Medical Center Warner Robins, GA. Eddie’s departure from this world was preceded by his parents, his father and mother in-law, and close friends. His benevolent and loving spirit continues to resonate through his beloved family.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: a loving and dedicated wife of 42 years, Helen Jean Hicks; his loving sisters: Annie D. Jones, and Rosa M. Hicks both of Union Springs, AL; his brother, Dale Hicks, Jr. of Montgomery, AL; three brothers-in-law: Rudolph Dawson (Darlene) of Perry, GA; Ira Jewett Dawson (Carolyn) of Peachtree City, GA; Alfred David Dowson (Nancy) of Miami Gardens, FL; five-sisters-in-law: Carol Porter, Hawkinsville, GA; Linda Diane Brusseau (John) Decatur, AL; Merecedes Hinchcock(Glenn) of Hampton, VA; Jeraldine Nobles (Late Eddie) Dalton, GA; and the Late Carol King(deceased). Life without him will never be the same, but we are forever grateful to God for blessing us with his presence for 67 remarkable years. Although it is hard for us to understand, we know that he is forever free of pain.
