Edgar (Ed) Bass Vinson, Jr. entered into rest on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.E
Ed was born on January 22, 1935, in Byron, GA to the late Edgar Bass Vinson, Sr. and Hallie Peavy Vinson. He is preceded in death by his sister, Lena Clark.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ann Potts Vinson, sons, Keith Vinson; John Vinson (Deanna); and Bobby Vinson (Para); grandchildren Rebecca, Padriac, Gary, Alan, Kaytlin, Heather, Amanda, Danielle and Chris; 14 great grandchildren and two nieces.
Ed graduated from Byron High School and later attended North GA Military College and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. He served in the Army Reserves.
He worked on the family farm with his father, while simultaneously working for Armstrong World Industries in Macon. Ed learned the value of hard work which he instilled in his three sons while the three generations worked the farm and land.
In the early 80s, Ed and his sons began building houses in the area.
In 1988, Vinson Trucking was formed hauling asphalt and rock in their dump trucks, eventually adding site work and land development to the company and with a grandson coming on board and again, three generations of Vinson’s working for the company.
Ed’s work ethic and dedication kept him working sunup to sundown. He loved managing burn pits on the sites.
Ed’s semi-retirement plans came to fruition in 2005, when he purchased a coastal waterfront home and reduced time on the job to four days a week.
His memory will forever be treasured by his family and numerous friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 5, 2023, from 2:00PM until 3:00PM with a celebration of his life immediately following at 3:00 PM at The Farmhouse at McCullogh Funeral Home located at 417 South Houston Lake Road, Warner Robins, GA.
