Effie Allen Cast, age 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2025, in Alexander City, Alabama, surrounded by her family.
Born on May 7, 1932, in Hardwick, Georgia, Effie was a woman of remarkable resilience and grace. She graduated from Peabody High School and was the treasurer of her class. Her dedication and strong work ethic led her to a successful career in procurement beginning at Robins AFB, and culminating at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. She retired in 1987 having made a lasting impact on both her colleagues and the mission she served.
A lifelong woman of faith, Effie was deeply devoted to Christ United Methodist Church in Warner Robins, where she found strength, community, and purpose. Even after relocating to Alabama in 2024 to be closer to family, her faith and warmth continued to shine through every interaction.
Effie was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry Bascom Wallace, Allen R. Cast, and George Fenimore; her parents, Thomas Minton Allen and Lula Lee Allen; brothers, Bill Allen, Roy Allen, Joe Allen, Tom Allen, and John Allen; and her sister, Jewel Allen.
Above all, Effie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was her family, and she nurtured each member with kindness, wisdom, and generosity.
She leaves behind her daughters, Beverly (Inman) Kile and Jeanne (Lorenzo) Falgiano; her grandchildren, Kathryn Katz, Erin Preston, Carrie Pace, Sarah Graham, Alex Falgiano, Andrew Falgiano, Jessie Garth, and Kate Garth; and thirteen great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a part of her light forward into the world.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating Effie’s life will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Effie Allen Cast will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery. A reception will follow the interment at The Farmhouse, located directly behind McCullough Funeral Home.
Effie will be remembered for her strength of character, the depth of her love, and the grace with which she moved through the world. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, and in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.
