Elizabeth Cooper Russell

Elizabeth C. Russell, 93, passed away peacefully at Summerhill in Perry on Friday, August 11, 2017.

Elizabeth was born in Wilkes County, North Carolina on September 12, 1923 and eventually moved to Pittsboro. She later moved to Sanford, North Carolina where she worked for Cornell Dubilier Electronics for 30 years retiring when the company moved its operations. Subsequently, Elizabeth worked for Old Chicago Telephone for several years. Her declining health motivated her to move to Warner Robins, Georgia in 2015 to be closer to her family.

An avid bowler most of her life, she spent many years as a member of a traveling league. It was during this time that Elizabeth had the opportunity to visit most of the states in the USA with her friends and fellow teammates.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Maude Cooper; a son, Jimmy White; five sisters; and two brothers.

Elizabeth’s memory will forever be treasured by her children, Mary Jane Smith (Al) of Soperton, Georgia, Elizabeth Johnson of Warner Robins, Georgia, Charles Cooper (Effie) of Macon, Georgia, and Carolyn Martin (Jerry) of Langley, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; twenty-plus great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and two nieces.

At the family’s request, Elizabeth’s burial will be private.
