Jane Watson Speer, 95, was called home by the Lord on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Born on October 26, 1929, in Perry, Georgia, Jane was the daughter of the late Claude and Edna Watson. She was raised in Bonaire where she graduated in 1945 from Bonaire High School. She left Bonaire for the big city of Macon, where she began working for Dun & Bradstreet.
In 1947, she married her husband, Aleck Speer. In 1949, they welcomed their son, Ronnie, followed by their daughter, Debbie, in 1951. Jane and her family relocated back to Warner Robins in 1963 when her husband joined the family business of Thrifty Food Center, the Market Baskets, and Handyman Hardware.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Warner Robins. She enjoyed playing Canasta with friends and was a member of the Cherokee Rose Garden Club.
In addition to Jane’s parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Aleck Speer, son, Ronnie, brother, Claude “Buzzy” Watson, Jr. and her sister, Natalie Watson Matthews.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughter, Debbie Speer Durham (Ray), grandchildren, Corey and Casey (Amy) Durham, and great-grandchildren, Walker and Khloe Durham.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Warner Robins. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Casey Matthews officiating. Afterward, Jane will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
