Ellery Kay Spradley lived a life built on service, love, and craftsmanship. Born April 3, 1947, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to Clara and C.V. Spradley, Ellery grew up with a strong work ethic and a devotion to family. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, then spent 34 years as a dedicated civil servant at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia.
A proud supporter of Alabama football, Ellery could often be found cheering for the Crimson Tide or in his workshop, turning raw wood into something beautiful and lasting. His greatest joy was his family. Ellery passed away on August 8, 2025, in Byron, Georgia at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and C.V. Spradley.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Gail Spradley; daughters, Ashley C. Spradley and Kim Hillis; grandchildren, Brigham and Faith Kilgore of Vinemont, Alabama; brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Rose Spradley; niece Heather and great-nephew Lloyd Roberts; Aunt, Joann Snow, and numerous cousins.
