Ellis E. ''Gene'' Self, 88, entered into rest on Saturday, June 1, 2013.
Gene was born on September 15, 1924 in Warner Robins, Georgia and was retired from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church and an avid gardener with a beautiful garden of flowers and vegetables that he willingly shared with friends, neighbors, and passersby's. Gene was a Master Mason at Tyrian Lodge 111, a member of both the Centerville and Warner Robins Senior Citizen's Clubs and of the local Central 5-0 Club. His wife, Retha Mae Self; parents, Henry and Annie Hardy Self; brothers, Buford, Herschel, Hill, Harris, Charles; and sister, Hazel Leverett, preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving stepson, Joel Faircloth, Warner Robins, Georgia; step-grandchildren, Lynn Wyatt, Dublin, Georgia; Mike Faircloth, Rentz, Georgia; Frankie Faircloth, Hawkinsville, Georgia; Glenn Faircloth, Warner Robins, Georgia; and Ginger Horton, Montgomery, Alabama; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Sara Sherman, Warner Robins, Georgia; and Jeanette Jackson, Warner Robins, Georgia; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2013 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
