Warner Robins

Elmo Eugene Cook, Sr., 83, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

Elmo was born May 27, 1940, in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Elmo and Georgia Cook. A true patriot, Elmo was proud of serving both his country and his local community. He honorably served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam conflict. Upon his military retirement, he joined the Centerville Police Department as a police officer, serving for over 20 years and retiring as a City Marshall.

Elmo was a family man who adored his wife and children. He loved spoiling his dog, Murphy, who was most definitely his favorite child. He was a longtime, faithful member of Oakland Baptist Church. Golf was a hobby that he loved, garnering seven holes-in-one in his lifetime. In his free time, he enjoyed cheering on his favorite college team, Notre Dame, and watching westerns, The Price is Right, and Let’s Make a Deal. His presence will be deeply missed by those he held dear.

In addition to his parents, Elmo was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Judy Cook and siblings, Donald Cook, Anne Anello-Hanks, and Frannie Fields.

His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Ron Cook, Elmo Cook, Jr. (Bobbie Jo), and Tami Holovach (Mike); grandchildren, Mari Louise Bates (Rebecca), Jared Cook (Dallas), Emory Cook (Alexis), Tommy Cook, Autumn Woodall (the late Michael), Summer Martucci, and Dominic Dillard; along with nine great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and many other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, April 8, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.  Afterward, Elmo will be laid to rest in Andersonville National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Judy Cook to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America at 322 8th Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
