Elton "Bunch" Joseph Rainey, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025, at the age of 86.

Bunch was born on July 4, 1938, in Boston, Georgia, to the late Edgar and Blanche Hewitt Rainey. He spent most of his childhood in Fort Valley, Georgia, where he developed a strong work ethic and deep family values that would guide him throughout his life.

From a young age, Bunch worked alongside his father in the family business, Rainey Electric. He grew up learning the trade and eventually became a master electrician. His dedication and skill earned him a respected reputation in the community, and he proudly continued in the business until his retirement.

Bunch was known by all who knew him as a kind, gentle, and loving man. His devotion to his family was unwavering—he would do anything for those he loved. Whether offering a helping hand or a warm smile, Bunch’s presence brought comfort and strength to those around him.

He was a man of faith who lived out his beliefs with humility and grace. A longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, he later attended St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he continued to grow in his spiritual life and community.

Elton "Bunch" Rainey leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and faith. He will be dearly missed by all who had the blessing of knowing him.

In addition to his parents, Bunch was preceded in death by his siblings, Helen Steele, Ed Rainey, Jr., Blanche “Tenny” Kettman, Ted Rainey, and Harold “Little Boy” Rainey.

His memory will forever be treasured by his siblings, Mary Ann Ransom of Asheville, Robert “Big Boy” Rainey (Krystal) of Barnesville, Frances Story of Perry, and James Rainey (Tracey) of Winder; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church with a memorial mass immediately following. Afterward, Bunch will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
