Ethan Luke Mathews, 22, of Byron, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Ethan was a member of Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church, Byron, GA.
Ethan is survived by his mother, Emily “Sissy” Deese Mathews of Byron; sister, Dr. Erin Root (Ray) of Byron; brother, Brett Mathews (Lindsey) of Flowery Branch, GA; maternal grandparents, William and Rhonda Dent Deese of Byron; paternal grandfather, John Mathews of Buena Vista, GA; aunt and uncles, Jan Hall and Lenn Hall of Byron, and Stephen Mathews of Buena Vista, GA; cousins, Andrew Hall of Bozeman, MT, and Ben Hall of Allentown, GA.
Ethan was preceded in death by his father, MSgt. Michael Mathews (Ret.) of Byron, and paternal grandmother, Charlotte Mathews of Buena Vista, Georgia.
Ethan was a talented musician, singer, songwriter, and played several instruments. He loved playing and singing for his family, friends, and occasionally at local venues.
Ethan was known for his sweet spirit, warm smile, and big heart. He was always willing to help anyone whenever needed. He will be so very missed by all who loved and knew him.
The family gathering will be at the home of Jan Hall in Peach County. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church in Fort Valley, GA. Ethan will lie in state at Fellowship Church one hour prior to service. Elder Garry Hall will officiate. Following the service, interment will take place in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fort Valley, GA.
