Ethel Marie Vickery Milligan, 86, entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
Born on December 6, 1938, in Savannah, Georgia, Ethel was the daughter of the late George Hamilton Vickery and Eva Doyle Vickery. Energetic, spirited, and always on the move, she approached life with boundless enthusiasm and a deep love for her family. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she found immense joy in the company of her loved ones and was especially thankful to have known and cherished each of her great-grandchildren.
Ethel’s life was a testament to faith, love, and generosity. She had a servant’s heart, always ready to lend a hand to others. A woman grounded in her beliefs, she was a faithful follower of Christ who loved the Lord deeply and lived her faith each day.
Adventurous and curious, Ethel had a passion for travel, exploring many parts of the world. She also enjoyed fishing and had special appreciation for antiques, often collecting meaningful treasures of the past. Though she has departed, the warmth, strength, and love she shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Tillman U. Milligan, daughter, Donna Cline, great-granddaughter, Anderson Marie, and brothers, George H. Vickery, Jr. and James Vickery.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her children, James Milligan of Kathleen, Georgia and John Milligan (Sheryl) of Colleyville, Texas; son-in-law, Robert Cline of Braselton, Georgia; grandchildren, John Milligan, Jr. (Katie) of Dallas, Texas, Ansley Miller (Stuart) of Frisco, Texas, Pierson Milligan (Caraline) of Little Elm, Texas, Emma Grace Turnipseed (Boyd) of Dacula, Georgia, and Mara Eva Cline of Braselton, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Collins, Campbell, and Emerson Miller, Palmer Milligan, Tillman “Tilly” Turnipseed, Jack Milligan, and Tripp Milligan. She is also remembered fondly by many extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church. The funeral service, officiated by Pastor Paul Cowles, will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. Ethel will be laid to rest the following day at Bay Branch Cemetery in Sylvania, Georgia.
