Eugene McGuire, 87, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
Eugene was born on April 24, 1939, in Ben Hill County, Georgia to the late Curtis and Eather McGuire. He was raised in Ben Hill and Warner Robins, where he attended Warner Robins High School and ran track for the school team.
Following graduation in 1958, Eugene held jobs with Piggly Wiggly and Blue Bird for a brief stint. It was during this time he began a ten-year period of serving with United States Army Reserves. Eugene would then go on to begin his nearly four-decade career in the Civil Service, eventually becoming the Branch Chief of Avionics Quality at Robins Air Force Base. He also worked as a part-time police officer with the city of Centerville during his time with Robins. This gave Eugene the opportunity to serve on the Centerville City Council and even as the Mayor Pro Tem.
In his retirement, Eugene kept busy as a course developer with Stovall and Co., then as a realtor with Wellston Realty. He was also a proud member of Friendship Baptist Church.
In his free time, Eugene could often be found tending to the yard – he loved gardening and kept everything in order – and enjoyed pulling for his Atlanta Falcons through thick and thin. Above all else, he was a family man and was happiest when he could spend time with them. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose hard work, love, and affection have left a lasting impression through generations.
In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded by his daughter, Theresa Dunn, and his brother, Johnny Lee McGuire.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa McGuire; his children, David Eugene McGuire (Alessandra) of Severna Park, Maryland, Robert Lee McGuire of Warner Robins, and Mitchell Luke McGuire of Fort Valley; his grandchildren, Michelle McGuire (Ryan Prew), Nicole McGuire, Sophia Fleckenstein (Mark), Justin Dunn (Sarah), and Daniel Moroney; and his great grandchildren, Noah and Lucas Prew, Jacob Fairwell, Reagan and Kennedy Florshuetz, Christian and Noah Dunn, and Ian and Scarlett Daniels; along with a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. in McCullough Funeral Home’s Chapel. Eugene will then be laid to rest at Magnolia Park Cemetery.
The family will accept flowers or memorials may be given to the Friendship Baptist Church building fund in Eugene’s honor.
For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live at https://www.youtube.com/@McCulloughFuneralHome via the McCullough Funeral Home’s YouTube page.
