Freddy Mae Chance Nichols joined her heavenly family reunion on October 17, 2026. She is preceded in death by her son Mike Nichols, husband Charles Nichols, parents Rachel and Sudie Chance, brother Glen Chance, and twin sister Peggy Dillard.

Born in Bleckley County, Freddy first came to Warner Robins as a proud Air Force wife but chose to make it “home” after twenty years of service. Having lived in her current residence for over five decades, she became the unofficial “ambassador” for her neighborhood. She loved to spend hours sitting on her porch waving at all the cars and school buses that passed.

After the death of her son, she became active in The Compassionate Friends, serving as chapter leader for a many years. As a member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church, she spent over 20 years loving on children as nursery coordinator. It was here that she affectionately became known as Mama Freddy. She had many adventures with her Sunday School sisters and Keenagers group. She enjoyed making memories with family and friends at Tybee Island and was a lifelong Atlanta Braves fan.

Mama Freddy is survived by her daughter Susan (Kevin) Faircloth, beloved granddaughters Abbey McGlashan and Kasey McGlashan, and several nieces and nephews.

At the family's request, all services will be private.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
