Gail Evonne Bassett, 66, passed away on June 29, 2025. Born on October 4, 1958, in Centerville, Georgia, Gail lived a life marked by creativity, compassion, and deep faith.
A proud graduate of Northside High School, Gail was the granddaughter of Elzie and Evelyn Bassett, pioneers in the Centerville community who helped develop much of the town and donated the land for Centerville Baptist Church and Centerville Cemetery.
Gail’s life journey took her to Florida, where she attended Chipola Junior College to pursue her love of art. There, she raised her family and owned a flower shop that blossomed with her creativity and care. Her passion for beauty and design led her back to Georgia, where she furthered her studies in art at Wesleyan College.
With an entrepreneurial spirit and artistic heart, Gail became the owner and operator of Designs Unlimited, where she worked as a floral and interior designer. Her work was not only her profession but her passion, with many of her original paintings cherished by family and friends.
Twelve years ago, Gail retired to the peaceful shores of Lake Tobesofkee, where she continued to paint, worked with photography, and spend time in quiet reflection reading her Bible. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, helping others, and expressing her faith through both art and action. While in Florida, Gail began a heartfelt mission to help people in need. Selling her artwork helped fund this ministry, a legacy of giving that lives on in the lives she touched. Gail will be remembered for her artistic soul, generous heart, and unwavering faith. She was preceded in death by her son, Grant Cooper; grandson, Jude Bailey; parents, Marvin and Margaret Meadows Bassett; and siblings, Bonnie Bassett and Eric Bassett.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her beloved children, Nicole Brantley, Jessica Bailey, Sumer Bailey and Mia Thompson; grandchildren, Jade Wright (Austin), Caden Bailey, Skarlett Bailey, Kalob Bailey Harrison
Savannah Dillard, William Dillard, Samantha Hall and Thomas Jones; great grandchildren, Bentley Wright, Ansley Wright, Hudson Wright, and Hayden Wright; and siblings, Jeff Bassett and Toni Astin.
