George Daniel Knowles

On Thursday, November 30, 2023, George Daniel Knowles peacefully transitioned to his eternal home, joining his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in heaven at the age of 85.

Born on September 4, 1938, in Lindale, Georgia, George was the beloved son of the late Thomas H. Knowles, Sr., and Bertie May Brown Knowles. He grew up in the serenity of North Georgia, before enlisting in the United States Air Force. Following a military career, George eventually retired from the Medical Center of Central Georgia, where he applied his skills in industrial maintenance.

George's unwavering faith was a cornerstone of his life. A devout Christian, he found fulfillment in the fellowship of both Centerville Baptist Church and Southside Baptist Church, where he attended services for many years. George enjoyed listening to gospel music. He also found joy in the simple pleasures of life and cherished the peaceful moments spent by the water, fishing.

George's legacy is the love and values that he bestowed upon his family. His wisdom, kindness, and unfailing faith will forever remain in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him. George leaves behind a testament to a life well-lived.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his siblings.

His memory will forever be treasured by his wife, Mary Snelgrove Knowles of Kathleen; children, Linda DeeAnn Knowles, Daniel Lee Knowles (Lisa), Barbara Mynatt, Kenneth Knowles, Tommy Knowles, and Sherry Andrew; as well as his sister, Barbara Moss; and several extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 3, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home.  Afterward, George Daniel Knowles will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
