George Ealer, 73, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2013.
George was a kind, gentle, wonderful man, who loved his family dearly. He was married forty-seven years to Mary Alice Ealer, whom he singularly adored and cherished. He loved and supported Mary, as husband, friend, and as fellow athlete in the Golden Olympics and all manner of athletic competitions.
If you were to ask George, his greatest accomplishments were his three sons, Tim, John and Jim. As a father, he was a steady hand and calm, patient voice to help guide his kids through the good times and the bad. He was a doting grandfather to Chris and Katie, whom he watched grow from children into young adults during his retirement years in Warner Robins.
George loved flowers; his garden was a noted springtime color burst of daylilies, irises and roses. He was quick to share his expertise as Master Gardner and welcomed the entire community to share the beauty of his flowers.
Those who knew George will miss him dearly; they have lost a quiet and humble inspiration, partner, father, grandfather and friend.
George was born on February 22, 1940, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the son of Harriet and George Ealer of Easton, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Easton High School in 1959 and Lafayette College in 1962, and completed his Master of Science in Chemical Engineering at Stevens Polytechnic in 1968. He worked for Union Carbide Corporation and Dow Chemical. He held several patents related to plastics and polyethylene, and was proud of his lifetime achievement award from the packaging industry group TAPPI in 1998. After thirty-nine years of service, he retired in 2001 and relocated from New Jersey to Warner Robins.
George, a devout Christian, was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Easton, and an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Warner Robins. He was well known as the organizer of CMUC's blood drives and saved countless lives through his work with the local Red Cross.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. at the church.
