George Franklin Walker

George Franklin Walker, 87, went to be with his Lord and Savior on the evening of Thursday, October 29, 2015.

Born and raised on a farm in Dodge County, George graduated high school in Rhine and continued farming until meeting his bride-to-be, June Grier. They lived in Chauncey briefly before moving to Warner Robins where he pursued a career in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base from where he retired after 33 years of service.

In 1957, Mr. and Mrs. Walker became members of Central Baptist Church. There, George, who loved his church, served as a Deacon, Chairman of the Deacons, and on many other committees within the church. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and spending time with his family. George also loved supporting his favorite teams, the Northside High School Eagles, the Georgia Bulldogs, and the Atlanta Braves. His beloved wife of 54 years, June Walker; parents, William Edwin and Texie Scarborough Walker; and several siblings preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving daughter, Susan Cowart of Warner Robins; son-in-law, Tod J. Cowart of Warner Robins; granddaughter, Caroline Delane Cowart of Lavonia, Georgia; grandson, William Judson Cowart of Athens, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 1, 2015, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 2, 2015 at Central Baptist Church. Following the service, George will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens. Dr. Owen Bozeman and Dr. Bob Dilks will officiate.
