On the morning of Sunday, July 3, 2016, Gladys Walburn went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was 76 years old.
Gladys was born on October 19, 1939 in Birmingham, Alabama. On September 14, 1970, she married the love of her life, George Harris Walburn. Mrs. Walburn devoted her life to serving God and her husband, and raising two children to know and love Jesus. She prayed and read her Bible daily, and always enjoyed talking about her love for Jesus and sharing that faith with family and friends. In her free time, Gladys loved spoiling her granddaughter, Christi, and completing word searches and crossword puzzles. She was the heart of the Walburn family and leaves so many special memories in the hearts of each member.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Harris Walburn; her parents, Forrest Gill and Mary Christine Higdon; and stepfather, John Higdon.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving children, Michael Walburn of Byron and Gail Walburn of Warner Robins; granddaughter, Christi Unthank of Warner Robins; step-grandchildren, Melissa Engram and T.J. Unthank, both of Warner Robins; sisters, Betty Johnson of Bessemer, Alabama and Terry Freeman of McCalla, Alabama; and a number of adoring nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 5th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6th at Valhalla Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama where Mrs. Walburn will be laid to eternal rest.
