We are profoundly sad to announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and godmother, Helen Woodson. She died on the evening of Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at the age of 81.
Born in Peach County, GA on February 23, 1941, Helen was the daughter of the late Dock and Annie Ruth Woodson and was of the Methodist faith. She was a full-time mother, grandmother and homemaker who loved to clean and work in the yard, all the while singing her favorite Gospel songs. Helen was tremendously devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was grateful when her granddaughter, Lakishia, took care of her over the years. Helen also enjoyed taking care of other people’s children as if they were her own; her good, fun personality gravitated all kids to her.
Helen is survived by her loving children, Mary Johnson (Maurice) of Warner Robins, Edna Livatt of Bonaire and J.C. W. Solomon, Jr. of Byron; grandchildren, Lakishia, Kelsey, Tyler and Brittany; great-grandchildren, Tresean, Ayrie and Logan; siblings, Dock Woodson, Jr. and Mary Lowe, both of Byron; godchildren, Eric Wright, Darlene Hooten, Antionette Chandler and Pamela Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by several siblings.
Visitation will be Monday, February 13, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Helen will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens after the service.
