Herbert Clifford Boyt, 89, entered into rest on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
Herbert was born on June 19, 1935, in Yatesville, Georgia. Raised in Upson County with his brothers, Kermet, Kenneth, Keith, and Kerry Hammock, he graduated from Yatesville High School in 1953. He served in the United States Navy from 1957-1961. He worked in civil service as a metrologist on Robins Air Force Base until his retirement in 1991. After his retirement, Herbert went on to work at Georgia Power for 10 years.
Herbert met Carolyn on a blind date in 1963 and married later that year. He was an active and faithful member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was also active in the Keenagers Ministry there. In his free time, he was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and an amateur radio operator. He also enjoyed the time spent with his family, making memories. Herbert will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
Herbert was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Gaylor Boyt.
His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Sarah Boyt Culberson (Timothy) of Covington, Amy Boyt Krob (Joseph) of Silverhill, AL, and Mark Clifford Boyt (Erin) of Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Robert, Rachel, Ruby, and Reneé Culberson, and Olivia and Joseph Krob, Jr., along with many other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, August 19, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Herbert will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
