Herman Barnett Langston, Sr., 88, entered into rest on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

Herman was born on October 10, 1937, in Perry, Georgia, to the late Emory Langston, Sr. and Bertha Carter Langston Wheeler. Following high school, Herman enlisted in the U.S. Army. At the conclusion of his service stint, Herman continued serving his country for nearly three decades as a Civil Servant. Herman was also a talented electronic repairman and operated his own shop on the side.

In his free time, Herman enjoyed listening to old country music and keeping up with The Weather Channel. He was also a history buff – he loved anything to do with military history and was like a walking encyclopedia. Above all, Herman was a dedicated family man. His happiest times were in the presence of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he deeply loved and cherished. His dedication and love for his family serve as a comfort to the family during this time.

In addition to his parents, Herman was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Virginia Langston; his daughter, Lisa Langston Morath; his son, Herman B. “Bubba” Langston, Jr; his granddaughter, Victoria Morath; his great grandson, Zero Gray Thompson; and his son-in-law, Larry Kersey.

He is survived by his children, Kimberly Kersey, Ginger Morris, David Langston (Renee), Paul Langston (Sonia), and Andrew Langston; his eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren; along with a host of extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Herman will then be laid to rest at Leverett Family Cemetery with military honors.

The family will accept flowers or suggest memorials be given to a charity of your choosing in honor of Herman.
