Obituary

Listen to Obituary

James A. Curl, Jr., 97, departed this life on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

James was born on September 30, 1929, in Pierce County, Georgia, to the late James A. Curl, Sr. and Lillie Belle Curl. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he honorably served his country during World War II. Following his military service, James built a career in the production department at The Macon Telegraph, where he worked faithfully until his retirement in 1990.

James was a man who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and found happiness in staying busy. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed spending his time gardening, fishing, and hunting. Mechanically inclined, he also enjoyed working on automobiles and putting his skills to good use. For many years, James was an active member of the Robins Ramblers Square Dance Club in Warner Robins, where he enjoyed dancing and the fellowship of friends who shared his enthusiasm.

A longtime member of Green Acres Baptist Church in Warner Robins, James valued his faith and the relationships he built throughout his life. Above all, he cherished his family and the memories they shared together. His life was one of dedication, hard work, and an appreciation for the people and activities that brought him joy.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Knight.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife, Juanita Curl; son, Ron Curl; granddaughter, Brittany Knight, of Warner Robins; brother, Lamar Curl, of Waycross, Georgia; and other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 10, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home, with a funeral service immediately following in the chapel. Afterward, James will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens.

For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live at https://www.youtube.com/@McCulloughFuneralHome via the McCullough Funeral Home’s YouTube page.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
