James “Jay” Gordon Shields, III, 19, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2007.
Jay was born on March 27, 1988, in Americus. Georgia. He was a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church. He was a computer systems specialist with Pain Relief Specialist of Warner Robins. A gifted individual, he was a self-taught pianist and was working on his pilot’s license.
Survivors include his parents, Dr. James G. Shields, Jr. and Sheila Shields of Perry; sister, Natalie Shields of Macon and paternal grandmother, Barbara Shields of Carson City, Nevada, godparents Earl and Gloria Dunmon of Americus and his faithful pet companion, dog Kate.
Visitation will be on Monday, November 19, 2007 from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Saint Patrick Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Saint Patrick Catholic Church with interment following in Parkway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Jay Shields Osteosarcoma Foundation at www.jayshieldsosteosarcomafoundation.com
