James William Lewis, 78, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
Born on October 9, 1947, in Eclectic, Alabama, James was the son of the late Chester Lewis and Elizabeth Blackburn Lewis. Following his high school graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After his military service, James continued his dedication to his country through his work as a sheet metal mechanic at Robins Air Force Base.
James was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in hunting and fishing. He dreamed of one day owning a large piece of land where he could farm. In his spare time, he loved watching classic westerns, especially Gunsmoke. He also had a passion for working on vehicles and took great pride in restoring a Ford LTD. James never met a stranger. He was a kind and dependable neighbor and will be remembered for his friendliness.
His memory will forever be treasured by his children, Winston Lewis, Jason Lewis, and Karissa Diane Lewis Johnson; grandchildren, Christopher Allen Lewis, Jr. James Michael Lewis, Adrianne, Dallas, Gaven, Noah, and Marshall; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Lewis, Ellianna Lewis, Avery Joe Lewis, Harper Lewis, Cassius Lopez-Albert, Roman Lopez-Albert, Paisley Williams, Ivy Williams, Olivia Williams, Liam Willliams, Nova Johnson, Ellieanna Johnson, and Mateo Johnson.
Visitation will be Friday, March 20, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service honoring the life of James William Lewis will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, he will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
