James Reese Bozeman, Jr.

May 26, 1950 — August 6, 2023

James “Jim” Reese Bozeman, Jr., 73, a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather (“PaPa”), and friend, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 6, 2023, after an extended illness.

Jim was born on May 26, 1950, in Grady, Alabama to James Reese Bozeman, Sr. and Sara Helen Bozeman. He grew up and spent his early years in Montgomery, Alabama. He attended Troy State University but transferred and graduated from his beloved Auburn University in 1976. War Eagle! Upon graduation, he received a commission in the United States Air Force. Jim served in the USAF as a B-52 navigator. He was stationed at Mather AFB in Sacramento, California and later trained at Castle AFB. He then joined the bomb wing at Robins AFB. Jim truly loved his country. Following a medical retirement from the Air Force, Jim worked in civil service as a contracting officer for several years. Jim was an ordained deacon at Shirley Hills Baptist Church. In addition, he was active in the church choir, and also as a first and second grade Sunday School teacher. He was also a great supporter and encourager of WMU. He was currently a member at Central Baptist Church. Jim was a member of several Masonic organizations; however, due to his failing health, he had not been active for some time. These included AL Sihah Shriners, Macon, GA and Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Valley of Macon. Jim loved his family dearly and was an excellent example of hard work and integrity. He enjoyed cooking for his family, especially his pecan pie. Jim especially enjoyed deer hunting, electronics, old movies, and storytelling. He truly had a gift for relating his tales of his boyhood dog, “Red Boy”.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Copeland Bozeman and James Reese Bozeman, Sr. of Millbrook, AL.

His memory will forever be treasured by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth Bozeman; daughter, Amy Elizabeth Meyer (Lance) of Peachtree City, GA; grandchildren, Anna Marie Meyer, age 18, and Aidan Meyer, age 13; siblings, Carol Jean Fowler (Hank) of Montgomery, AL, and Rhonda Gail Florida of Millbrook, AL; uncle, John W.
