James Releford

A loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, James Releford, 88, entered eternal rest on the morning of Wednesday, January 22, 2026.

A beloved native of Middle Georgia, James was born on May 24, 1937, in Perry, Georgia, to the late James Cornelius Releford and Evelyn Tharpe Releford. He was raised in Perry, where he proudly played football and graduated from Perry High School.

James moved to New Jersey, where he devoted more than three decades of service as a Mental Health Nurse at the state hospital. Twenty-eight years ago, James and his family made their home in Byron, Georgia, where he continued his service to the community through his work at the Phoenix Center. As a hard worker throughout his life, James took great pride in providing for his family.

James was also an avid tennis, table tennis, and ping pong player who traveled extensively to participate in tournaments.

He will be remembered for his kind spirit and caring heart.

His memory will forever be treasured by his beloved wife of 63 years, Patricia Ann Releford of Byron; children, Andrew M. Releford, James Releford, and Kathy Branch (B.T.), all Warner Robins; several grandchildren; as well as a host of extended beloved family members and friends.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Mausoleum in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
