On the morning of Thursday, November 23, 2017, Ron Collins passed away at Houston Medical Center. He was 64.
Born on January 14, 1953, Ron was the son to the late Evelyn Duckworth and Thomas Harvey Collins, Jr. A proud Northside High School Alumnus, he went on to become a fabricator for Robears New Orleans Style Wrought Iron for many years. Although retired, he continued to work at times as he enjoyed the work and friendship with Robear and Rick. Ron loved watching sports and was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves and Falcons, and NHS Eagles. He also enjoyed reading, working the New York Times crossword puzzles in ink and playing computer games, but spending time with family and friends was always his favorite pastime.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Lamar and William Douglas Collins.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving sister, Brenda O’Brien of Warner Robins; sister-in-law, Maria Collins of Milledgeville; nieces and nephews, Sven (Heidi), Marc, Jay and Tiffany Collins, and Booker (Carrie) and Hunter (Jaclyn) O’Brien; four great-nephews; four great-niece; and many other loving family and friends.
A memorial service celebrating Ron’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, 2017 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.
