James “Mike” Scarborough went peacefully home to meet his Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 11, 2026 after a long health struggle. He was born in Fort Valley, GA, on November 23, 1949, to J.M. and Hilda Scarborough. The family then moved to Hawkinsville, GA, where Mike graduated from Hawkinsville High School in 1968. In 1971, he married his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life, Sharon Buchan. Their love and dedication to one another was evident to all who knew them. Mike gave his heart to Christ as a small boy, and as an adult he surrendered to the calling to full-time ministry.

Mike earned his Bachelor of Religion degree from Mercer University and his Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Seminary. Together, Mike and Sharon served the Body of Christ for 40 years in Georgia, Indiana, and Virginia. Mike also served as the Dean of Students at Southeastern Seminary before moving to Indiana to plant a church.

Mike was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sharon Buchan Scarborough; his father J.M. Scarborough; his mother Hilda Tripp Scarborough; his oldest sister Sandra Scarborough Danielly; and his brother-in-law Jerry Lee Danielly, Sr.

Survivors include: his sisters Cathy Scarborough Barker (Bobby), Lorrie Scarborough Nix (Bobby); his sister and brother in laws: Cathy Buchan Mullis (Jimmy) and Terrell Buchan (Kimberly); nieces and nephews, Lee Danielly (Michele), Kirt Danielly (Donna), Stewart Barker (Alain), Amy Barker Kemp (Tray), Staci Nix Miller (Brandon), James Nix (Kristen); and many great nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026 at 2 pm at McCullough Funeral Home, 417 S Houston Lake Rd, Warner Robins, GA 31088. A visitation will precede the Celebration of Life at 1 pm.

A private family interment will follow.
