Janet Dumas Stokes, 51, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2008
Janet was born in Quitman, Georgia. She worked as a green house manager at Arrowhead Nursery and was a charter member of Hilltop Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. She was also a member and group leader of Celebrate Recovery at Avondale Baptist Church. Her brother, Tommy Dumas preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, B.J. "Tater" Stokes, Byron; children, Christy Dumas (Bertie), South Carolina and Shaun Bryant (Michelle), Lizella; parents, Harold and Miriam Dumas, Milledgeville; siblings, Jerry Dumas, Macon; Marilyn Noon, Byron and Melonie McInturff (David), Warner Robins; grandchildren, Matthew Jacks and Blake Bryant; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in New Elim Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, January 14, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Hilltop Baptist Church Building Fund, 4140 US Highway 41 North, Byron, Georgia 31008.
