Dr. Jean Sergo Valcourt, 74, of Warner Robins, GA, passed away on the evening of Sunday, November 30, 2025. He was born in Haiti to the late Athanase Valcourt and Anne-Marie Valcourt, and was one of thirteen siblings.
Serge grew up in Haiti and pursued his education with deep commitment. His dedication to learning and service shaped every step of his life’s journey. After attending Collège Canado-Haïtien and graduating from Université d’État d’Haïti, he moved to the United States in 1984 to pursue advanced medical training. He went on to serve his community as a respected Nephrologist and Hospitalist, caring for countless patients with exceptional skill, compassion, and professionalism.
A devout Seventh-day Adventist, Serge faithfully served his church communities for many years, acting as both elder and first elder in several congregations. His most recent passion was supporting the growth of Bethel Haitian SDA Church, in McDonough, Ga. where he proudly served as an elder and dedicated himself to meaningful fundraising efforts.
Serge was an intellectual in every sense—deeply thoughtful, disciplined, and guided by his unwavering faith. He loved reading his Bible, listening to gospel and classical music, and engaging in heartfelt, insightful conversation. He will be most remembered for his profound passion for education. To Serge, learning was both a privilege and a responsibility, and he instilled that belief deeply in his children. They often recall his conviction that excellence was the standard, where a grade below 90% simply reflected untapped potential. His unwavering encouragement inspired each of them to pursue higher education to the fullest extent of their abilities.
He is survived by his wife, Mirelle Valcourt, and his four children: Erica Lee Valcourt; Lindsey Sergina Gibbs, with her husband Terrell Gibbs; Stacey Johanne Valcourt; and his son, Justin David Severe-Ellis. He also leaves behind his cherished grandson, Hunter Edward Gibbs.
He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, colleagues, church community, and all who were blessed to know him. Those who knew Serge will remember his quiet strength, his love of Scripture, his family, traveling and his appreciation for both gospel and classical music.
His legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to live on in the many lives he touched.
