Jeanine Elms Frey, born May 27, 1941, in Gorman, Texas, to the late Vernon and Letona Mitchell Elms, passed away on January 8, 2026.
Jeanine was married to her beloved husband, Bobby, for 41 years. High school sweethearts, they were both proud graduates of Mississippi State University and shared a life filled with love, laughter, and devoted companionship. Their summers were marked by cherished traditions—visiting family, trips to the beach, vacations to Walt Disney World, and simple joys like ice cream sundaes, made even more special by the ice cream bar Bob hand-built in their home. Together, they created a life rich in memories, warmth, and happiness.
Jeanine devoted 35 years of her life to education in Houston County, where she touched countless young lives. She taught at Warner Robins High School and Russell Elementary School before serving for many years as the media specialist at Shirley Hills Elementary School. In that role, she was instrumental in ushering Shirley Hills into the technological age, helping students and staff embrace new tools for learning long before they became commonplace. Jeanine Elms Frey will be remembered for her passion for learning, her vibrant creativity, and the lasting impact she made on generations of students and all who knew her.
Beyond her professional life, Jeanine embraced the world with enthusiasm. She loved traveling throughout the United States and Europe, collecting colorful art along the way. She found joy in scrapbooking, preserving memories with the same care she gave to her students, and enjoyed gardening in her younger years. Jeanine had a special love for the Spanish language and took pride in speaking it whenever she could. If she heard someone speaking Spanish, her antennae went up and she eagerly tried to talk with them.
Above all, Jeanine cherished time spent with her family, especially visiting and sharing moments with her sisters, whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, Jeanine was preceded in death by her husband, Bob C. Frey; and brothers, Alan Elms, Larry Elms, and Tommy Elms.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Felicia F. Hackney (David) and Brian D. Frey (Holly); grandsons, Sean Robinson (D’Ann), Drew Robinson, Connor Robinson (Haley), and Thomas K. Robinson; great-granddaughters, Francine and Freya; sisters, Vernona Elms, Elena Elms, and Laurel Mitchell; nieces, Lydia, Laurel and Heather; nephews, James, Scott, and Matthew; and cousins, Pat Murphy, Kelly, Karen and Sarah.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. The family will greet friends before laying Jeanine to rest at Parkway Memorial Gardens.
