Jeannette “Jean” Williams Kitchens, 72, of Americus, Georgia, passed peacefully into eternal rest on September 3, 2025. She was born on May 20, 1953, in Americus to the late Edward and Ruth Boatner Williams.
After graduating from high school, Jean pursued her passion for beauty and style, earning her associate’s degree in cosmetology. For 20 years she worked as a dedicated cosmetologist, helping others feel confident and cared for. Her work allowed her to build lasting friendships, and she will be remembered by many for her warm smile and welcoming spirit.
Jean had a gift for conversation—she never met a stranger and could talk your ear off. More importantly, her words were often filled with kindness, laughter, and a genuine interest in the lives of others. She had a big heart and always found ways to brighten the day of those around her.
In her free time, Jean enjoyed the simple joys of life. She loved keeping up with friends and family on Facebook, solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and spending quiet time with a good book, especially biographies. She collected arrowheads, which reflected her appreciation for history and discovery. Red birds held a special place in her heart, and spotting them always brought her delight.
Those who knew Jean will remember her as a woman of warmth, humor, and compassion—someone who found beauty in life’s details and left behind countless happy memories. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and connection, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-three years, Benjamin Kitchens.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Jennifer Kitchens and Jamie Kitchens; grandchildren, Jove Holloway, Micajah Walker (Alicia), and Cassius Walker (Leandra); great-grandson, Rylan Walker; sisters, Betty Nixon (Douglas) and Edwenia Lower; nephews, Ronnie Howard, Elijah Luna and Joshua Lower; nieces, Jasmine Luna and Elizabeth Baldwin; brother-in-law, Roberto Luna and a host of extended family.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel. Afterward, Jean will be laid to rest in privately.
