Kathleen

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Jerry Carl Hunter on the morning of Saturday, October 11, 2025. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jerry’s warm spirit, and creative heart touched all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will be cherished forever.

Jerry was born on August 28, 1947, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late Carl Franklin and Minnie Alpha Benson Hunter. A proud graduate of Irwin County High School’s Class of 1965, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Valdosta State University in 1969.

A true artisan at heart, Jerry discovered a passion for silversmithing early in life. What began as an interest blossomed into a fulfilling lifelong career. He launched his own business in Denver, Colorado, where he spent nearly two decades honing his skills and sharing his artistry. Later, he returned to his roots in Ocilla, bringing his talents and gentle nature back home.

In 2008, Jerry met Linda, the love of his life, on Match.com. The connection was instant, and the two were married in 2009. Together, they shared not only a deep love but a passion for silversmithing. Jerry found great joy in teaching Linda the intricacies of the craft he loved so dearly. They proudly served as members of the Southern Highlands Craft Guild in Asheville, NC, where their work and camaraderie were warmly celebrated. These shared moments at the workbench, side by side, are treasures Linda will hold in her heart forever.

Outside of his artistry, Jerry had an enduring love for foreign cars—especially British ones—appreciating their charm and character much like he appreciated the uniqueness in people.

Jerry is survived by his devoted wife of 16 years, Linda Hunter of Kathleen; his daughter, Kristin Keith (Jason) of Warner Robins; and his cherished grandchildren, Liam and Claire Keith, and Duggan Luck. He also leaves behind a circle of extended family and dear friends who will carry his memory with love.

A memorial service will take place in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with a memorial gathering one hour prior. Burial will be private.
