Jessie Garrett Hunt, lovingly known as "Patsy," passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her father, James Garrett; her mother, Jessie Garrett; and her sister, Norma Mullis.
Patsy attended Robert E. Lee High School in Thomaston, Georgia. She later moved to Hawkinsville, Georgia, where she raised her two daughters, and eventually made her home in Bonaire, Georgia. She retired from Robins Air Force Base after a long career in Procurement, having worked there shortly after high school until her retirement.
Patsy was a loving mother, grandmother, and Nanny. She was truly an amazing woman and one of the kindest, most loving people you could ever meet. She was tough as nails but soft as a marshmallow. Above all, she loved and adored her family.
She loved and adored all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She treasured their visits and enjoyed hearing about their lives. An avid reader, Patsy loved books and puzzle books. She enjoyed watching game shows on television and always looked forward to family gatherings, especially the home-cooked food she loved so much. Over the years, she also enjoyed many trips with her daughter Susan.
Patsy loved flowers and especially enjoyed visiting Callaway Gardens. She cherished the time she spent with her sister Norma and her brother Jimmy. If I had to choose one word to describe what it was like being raised by my mom, I would choose "Joy" or maybe "Love," or perhaps "Safe." The truth is, I cannot choose just one.
Her spirit will live on in the lessons she taught us and the love she shared. We will miss her loving guidance and unwavering support. Her love will continue to light our way and live in our hearts forever.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her beloved brother, Jimmy Garrett of Athens; her loving daughter, Susan Hunt Coody of Warner Robins; her grandchildren, Joni Coody Harridge (David) of Bonaire and Amanda Coody Hanes (Chris) of Palmdale, California; her great-grandchildren, Corey Land of Bonaire and Chase Land of Perry; her step-great-grandchildren, Emilee Cossette (Cadence) of Warner Robins and Steven Harridge of Texas; her beloved nephews, Merrill Mullis (Debra) of Cochran, David Mullis (Ann) of Hawkinsville, Leslie Mullis of Demorest and Garrett Mullis (Janice) of Cleveland, and her niece, Denise Mullis McDaniel (Mac) of Hazlehurst.
Patsy's family was the joy of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. The love she shared with each of them will remain a lasting legacy for generations to come.
Private services will be held to honor her life and reflect on the cherished memories that will forever reside in the hearts of those who loved her.
McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with these arrangements.
