Jilma Campbell

Jilma Suira Campbell, 80, passed away peacefully at home on April 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy as vibrant and warm as the Panamanian sun.

Born in Chiriqui Province, Panama, Jilma’s life was a beautiful journey of culture and devotion. While working as a travel agent in Panama City, she met James Campbell, a meeting that would begin a 54-year adventure across the globe. As a military spouse, Jilma was the "House Commander," masterfully navigating moves from Japan to Maine, always ensuring that no matter where the Air Force sent them, "home" was wherever she was.

She never lost her beautiful accent or her love for the flavors of her homeland. Her children and grandchildren will forever cherish the memory of her Sunday morning hojaldras and sweet platinos. Beyond her own kitchen, Jilma spent years as a CNA, offering a gentle hand and a quick wit to the elderly patients who adored her. She was a woman of many talents—from sewing elaborate school play costumes to cheering at ball games—but her greatest gift was the way she made everyone feel welcome in her home.

Jilma’s memory will be forever treasured by her husband, James Douglas Campbell Sr.; her children, Liliane Lucille Campbell (Bruce), JoAnn Denise Campbell (Frank Harrak), and James Douglas Campbell Jr. (Meta); her beloved grandchildren, Chase Douglas Campbell and Isabella Grace Campbell; her sisters Elvia Suira Castillo, Eira Suira Castillo, Vielka Rodriguez Castillo, Mitzela Montezuma Castillo, Ida Montezuma Castillo; and her brothers Andres Cubilla Castillo and Jorge Cubilla Castillo.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 4:00 to 5:00, at McCullough Funeral Home, with a funeral service immediately following in the chapel.  Afterward, Jilma will be laid to rest privately.
