Jimmie Doris Rowe

January 11, 1943 — February 24, 2024

Saint Johns

Doris Rowe, 81, of Jacksonville, Florida, went home to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 24, 2024. A woman of faith, Doris attended Fruit Cove Baptist Church which was her church home for the past 35 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother to her husband, children, and grandchildren. A natural caregiver, Doris loved to take care of everyone around her, but particularly her grandchildren. She was one of the most generous people you could meet; lovingly cooking a warm meal, supporting others, or donating money to those in need whenever she could. This selflessness extended into her support of her husband’s military and civil service careers. In her free time, Doris was an avid reader, which she instilled in her children as well, and traveling during the last years of her life. She was a bright soul that touched the lives of everyone around her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, James Marvin Rowe, Jr.; brother, Charles Haywood; sister, Mildred McDowell; and grandson, John Selby.

She is survived by her brothers: J. F. Haywood, Mike Tucker, and Howard Tucker; her sister Donna Ward; children: Tammy Wilson (Scott), Ginger Leard (Robert), Jennifer Davis (Jack), Mandy Brown (Jonathan); grandchildren: Jessica Brown (Michael), Alyssa Barksdale (Logan), Jonathan Leard (Lacee), Samantha Benge (Alex), Arielle Clark, Alexandra Clark, Austin Clark, Andrew Clark, Ashley Clark, Millie Brown, Anna Brown, Catherine Brown, Callie Brown; and great-grandchildren: Trinity Selby, Hunter Selby, Emily Brown, Cody Brown.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the graveside service for Doris, which will be held at Parkway Memorial Gardens in Warner Robins, GA on Saturday, March 2, 2024, beginning at 12:00pm.
